After traveling for over a month we made it to our last stop on this journey: Singapore. Singapore was another incredible, bustling and growing city which reminded me again a lot of New York City. Singapore, an island city-state off southern Malaysia, is a global financial center with a tropical climate and multicultural population. I prefer walking around cities instead of taking an underground subway system and since there was no Hop-on-Hop-Off bus tour available walking was the best way to explore a few different areas. We visited Chinatown and Little India and later that day the Waterfront Promenade. When in Singapore I highly recommend spending at least one night at the famous Marina Bay Sands. We stayed the whole time there and it was a different experience for us as well. I usually prefer small hotels, after Bali I felt ready for a huge hotel complex. Marina Bay Sands is unique and different compared to other big hotels but in my opinion worth the money. The views are incredible and it is the only hotel with an infinity pool at that height which offers breathtaking views over the city. The restaurants are excellent and the cocktail bars are unique. We enjoyed the last few days of our trip and sipped the first night on a Singapore Sling overlooking the city.

On the next day we spent a full day at the Gardens by the Bay. Gardens by the Bay is a nature park spanning 101 hectares of reclaimed land in the Central Region of Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. We also visited The Flower Dome and Cloud Forest which are all located inside the garden. Our highlight on this day was a walk across Supertree Grove. Supertrees are tree-like structures that dominate the Gardens’ landscape with heights that range between 25 metres (82 ft) and 50 metres (160 ft). They are vertical gardens that perform a multitude of functions, which include planting, shading and working as environmental engines for the gardens. The Supertrees are home to enclaves of unique and exotic ferns, vines, orchids and also a vast collection of other plants.

We spent our last day by the pool and tested three different restaurants in the hotel, followed by another Singapore Sling at the pool bar. We stayed up that night, packed our luggages and left Singapore at around 4:00 AM. After five intense weeks of traveling, a ton of memories and truly unforgettable moments it was time to go home. I still love to reflect back on all of the pictures we took during our trip and I’m very grateful that we had the chance of exploring so many different places around Asia.
